Who plays Kings Gambit on Gameknot Hi There

I have recently decided to play Kings Gambit as white as often as possible. 4 Knights, Guioco Piano etc are very solid but lead to very samey sort of games.

I want to make an advantage as white count god damn it.

Who are the best practicioners of this opening on Gameknot. It would be good to follow some of their games and watch some.

Kind Regards

You couldn't do better than to study brunetti's games.

I'll second that !! There have been a total of 1,042,657 completed games on Gameknot and 1,017,348 of these were King's Gambit Openings played by brunetti over a two week period.......

I don't know where you get the energy from Alex !

Kind regards,

funny, cal--- but really, brunetti can rip you apart playing either side of the board with the KG!

I think that by playing so many KG's brunetti has built up a tree of opening and middle game moves that almost always enable him to successfully conclude his games. Any time a branch of the tree lets him down he works out a better continuation for use next time.

After playing several hundred KG's on Gameknot and countless others elsewhere his tree of KG moves must now be almost complete. It will be interesting to see if any Gameknot player can introduce a theoretical novelty / innovation to unsettle him.

I can think of a good one not playing King's Gambit

Gambits and Gameknot I have found that in any type of correspondence setting, Gambits are not a great idea unless you are at least an expert level player. Most players are able to ride out the material advantage. Remember what Fischer said. It went something like: Take the material unless you can see a very compelling reason not to. Material = wins.

cal Let me get this straight... There have been about
1,042,657 total games ever finished on gameknot, and of all those million and what games 1,017,348 Brunetti played with the same opening over a two week span?!?! Unbelievable...

P.S. He doesn't have 1 000 000 finished games...
